The joint conference ICMPC – ESCOM 2012 will take place from 23-28 July 2012 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The conference is organized by the Department of Music Studies, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music.
The conference will bring together leading researchers from different areas of music cognition and perception. Papers are invited that report empirical and theoretical research that contributes to a better understanding of how music is perceived, represented and generated. Research is welcome from a broad range of disciplines, such as psychology, psychophysics, philosophy, aesthetics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, psychoacoustics, linguistics, music theory, anthropology, cognitive science, education.
The joint conference ICMPC-ESCOM 2012 is the fourth joint international meeting of ICMPC and ESCOM following the meetings in Liege, Belgium (1994), Keele, England (2000), and Bologna, Italy (2006).
